GASPING FOR AIR
Like an aging dog; Jasmine continued.
Her progress was not always a straight line upward. Even when moping about, she kept moving, toward the gravity of an invisible string; She held on.
She was gripping this desperate moment of cutting angst. In her mode of dramatic struggle, she was as that old dog is in its final moments:
–
panting, gasping for its next clean inhale, Jasmine was in need of calm. She closed eyes and began to hold her attention firmly on what had compelled her for several years now. Surviving.
Surviving required effort, enduring, keeping focus on the life she had, her life.
Calm was something young Jasmine had never lived, experienced first hand or felt but she desired to one day become- it. She sought calm as she began to seek out a new family.
In these moments of emotional collapse, it was as if Jasmine fell into a dearth of swirling emotions. Within that tornado of discomfort was the collision of expectations, hope(s) and there was a bright fear of a wide, unknown future. It was a future that seemed so unclear when she attempted to envision it. It was an uncertain chasm for young Jasmine to look toward but she knew she wanted to face it with a family.
Jasmine knew her future would include a family.
