Jasmine Pens Her Poem
I’m feisty -at times,
Quiet though, I sneak….
a feral cat- feline
God promised me; I’m divine
This cat, she can shine…. I know she can.
A cat….
Who needs a home
I need a mom, my mom…
But she …. She left
My uncle – my tribe
To rely —on
I … am – them
We …. Our family
We ……. Are family
I – need my – we. Us in us.
Jasmine stopped, looked up and Mr. Paul knew that he was being called over to see what young Jazz had written, he scurried over to read.
The page was ripe, overflowing with the stylistic elements of penmanship of young Jazz, Jasmine Regina Kingsley, the entire page was bursting, sprinkled with poetic verse.
“Ok”, he said…… eyes lighting up…. “Will you look at that?…. Look at that, young writer. – Jasmine, have a look at what -you did. ”….he emphasized the word ‘you’ for Jasmine as he knew this was a chance for her to stake claim and believe in herself.
